a series of curated lists, musings, and monthly round ups. stay and yap a while!
#1
a bit of a delayed start to the year as i was sick and out of commission for most of january. i didn’t really feel like a real person until february - time is a social construct anyway or whatever- so consider this my start of the year. to wrap up the beginning of 2025, i’m introducing a monthly round-up!
faves from jan and feb:
the vegan oatmeal chocolate chip cookies from trader joe’s
i actually need to ban myself from buying these for a little bit because I eat them too quickly and am spending an obscene amount of money on these little cookies - blowing my grocery budget out of wack. a bit ashamed to admit that - but testament to how freaking good they are.
opi lincoln park after dark
in love with the deep red undertone of this black nail polish.
hogwarts legacy
this was the perfect escape when i was sick and low energy. growing up on harry potter, i was utterly disappointed when i didn’t receive my letter on my eleventh birthday (i was really holding out hope). i love collecting mythical creatures to save them from poachers and decorating my room of requirements. a queen of side quests, there are so many nooks to explore and trinkets to collect. although, i do wish you could interact with the other characters more.
a morning page
a new addition to my morning routine is writing one full page with a cup of coffee and some classical/soundtrack music playing. elated to announce that i’ve surpassed my 1-month mark and am proud of myself for keeping up with this habit. i’ve found clearing my head first thing in the morning allows for more clarity and creativity throughout the day, and will definitely continue this practice.
“prologues” by mary skinner
i originally found mary on tiktok, however since deleting the app, i’ve turned to her youtube and podcast. they’re relaxing and feel like a facetime chat.
classical/soundtrack music in the morning
i used to begin my day by listening to news podcasts or doomscrolling - albeit, i still fall back into a morning scroll occasionally but have definitely decreased the overall amount. it’s tough to start each day stressed. the news will still be there if i wait until i’ve had a chance to drink my coffee and wake up a bit more before consuming it. stay tuned for a curated playlist if you’re in need of a more relaxing morning.
medieval lofi during the day
continuing with music, i can’t work in silence nor music with lyrics/podcasts. i’m a big fan of lofi background music in general but currently on a medieval/skyrim lofi, makes it feel like i’m on a little quest
thoughts and musings:
i love journaling and tracking things. however, being so sick in january, i started the year with less workouts than planned, challenging my desire for perfectionism. it made me let go a bit and remember that no one else is looking at my journals or tracking my life - it’s literally fine.
since deleting tiktok and ig off my phone and generally trying to consume less and with more intention, i’m a bit embarassed to realize how much time i spent scrolling. with my new free time, i’ve been reading, watching video essays, and writing more. i’d like to watch more films, discover new (to me) music and curate playlists. side note - spotify’s shuffle sucks..maybe time to switch platforms?
