a series of curated lists, musings, and monthly round ups. stay and yap a while!
#5
you guys what the heck? this month completely flew by for me - idk about you! time completely got away from me, or maybe it was flowing just as it was supposed to be. i’m unemployed, what business is it of mine what time it is.
this month has been dedicated to design (self plug - HMU if you need a graphic designer!). HUGE news! a logo i designed is officially in use!! how exciting! as i’m pivoting to becoming a full-time creative, it’s so exciting to see my work out in the world and it feels reassuring to know that “i can do this!” i’ve also been working on designing assets for a wedding and generally working on improving my skills. learning new (to me) platforms but that are in demand like readymag and figma. getting even better at the adobe creative suite, and feeling the creative juices flowing.
it’s been a hot one here in tucson. my first desert summer and it feels so weird to be inside so much during the summer. i feel so guilty being inside when it’s sunny out but then you go outside and the breeze is somehow even hotter than the already 110 degree weather, so inside i remain.
faves from june
adobe creative suite
i got this great discount on the creative suite and have been loving diving into all of these platforms. a mix of watching tutorials and trial and error - going through all the effects and tools and just figuring things out. im working on an upgrade to my portfolio already, a logo for myself, a travel book from my trip to italy, wedding assets, etc. LOL. is it because i’m a gemini or the ADHD that i have a million projects going at once?
coloring
for my birthday, one of my best friends gifted me a coloring book (and she got the same one) so we can color together! it’s so calming and relaxing and just a fun, low stake way to be creative. sometimes after an intense creative session where i’m bringing my own ideas to life, i just want to color in the lines.
thoughts and musings from the month
PERFECTION IS THE ENEMY OF DONE! this is something i’ve been really intentionally focusing on this month, especially when it comes to design and getting my work out there. i was procrastinating my portfolio for so long because it’s not perfect, i dont have enough clients, *insert excuse here*. but i finally just sat down one afternoon and got it all out - and while no, it isn’t perfect, i needed something ready to be sent out to jobs and clients instead of waiting and waiting and waiting for perfect to arrive (and spoiler perfection will never arrive!)
i’ve been working on this in all aspects of my life, perfectionism has something that has quite frankly debilitated my life and held me back in so many instances and i’m over it. i even decided today that i want to start incorporating a morning stretch/yoga flow but i don’t have a yoga mat yet. in the past i would have waited for the mat, and then probably changed the criteria again, that i needed the perfect yoga outfit or whatever, anything to keep me from jumping into action and actually doing it. but not today!! i got up, pulled up the youtube video i found the night before, and practiced on my bedroom carpet. and you know what? everything was fine! i got it done!
i have a follow up to my “who is a (ren)aissance woman?” post since i was in FLORENCE!!! so stay tuned!
here’s to getting shit done, perfect or not.
